ProAc Response DB1
$3200.

Small mini monitor type loudspeakers have become very popular for those wishing for a high quality sound with a minimal visual effect.

Although the mini monitor type speaker can be quite accurate and indeed sound better than many bigger loudspeakers, which obviously have not been made with the same care, the Achilles heel of a small loudspeaker is the bass extension and sound stage size.  A big loudspeaker can produce low octaves and give you a large sound stage ideal for large orchestral and high level rock; however they can be an eyesore and dominate the room visually.  ProAc have set out to try and achieve in a small speaker a sound normally associated with a larger speaker particularly the bass response.

ProAc Tablette Anniversary
$2400.

The original ProAc Tablette was launched 30 years ago to instant critical acclaim and redefined performance in mini-monitor class loudspeakers at that time. There have been nine incarnations of the Tablette to date and each one has seen improvements in bass extension, midrange transparency and imaging. Reproducing a large soundstage is a difficult task for a small loudspeaker, because of lack of bass power due to the limitations of the cabinet size. After a year’s intense R&D however, ProAc are confident in having significantly improved this area of performance with only marginal increments to the cabinet’s dimensions.

With the new ProAc Tablette Anniversary speakers extra bass power and soundstage size comes from a new 5 inch mid-bass driver which utilizes a Kevlar cone designed by ProAc. This drive unit gives uncanny bass extension, and is loaded by one large, rear port. A new ProAc developed 19mm dome tweeter features a special material on the front plate to dissipate phase anomalies and cancellations. The drivers are seamlessly integrated via a high quality crossover network. As well as improved efficiency and power handling, the ProAc Tablette Anniversary produces a significantly larger soundstage. Shut your eyes and the classic Tablette, trademark ability to produce a large soundstage from such a small enclosure, is now taken to a much higher level

ProAc Tablette 10
$1900.

The new ProAc Tablette 10 is a tenth generation of the Tablettes launched in 1979.  The Tablette 10 is an all new design, using a thin walled heavy damped infinite baffle enclosure which is the same as the BBC LS3/5a.  This design allows the Tablette 10 to be positioned against the wall, unlike a ported enclosure (not recommended).

The new Tablette 10 has cutting edge new drive units, the bass driver has a Paginna Mika cone which is reed leaves mixed with Mika and coated with an acoustic dope.

The crossover has been specially designed for a sealed enclosure with a network which shapes the response to give a rich bass and an extremely transparent midrange.  The tweeter is our well known 1 inch silk dome used in many of ProAc’s other models.

The 118 is excellent on all types of music and more efficient than previous models, which make it suitable for lower powered valve and transistor amplifiers.

ProAc K8
$39500.

The ProAc K6 is one of our most successful designs and the plans to make a larger K8 have finally come to fruition.

The K8 uses a larger 8 inch bass driver than the K6, the cone is made from Kevlar weave material, then polished and concentrically weighted.

With a new wider cabinet, the midrange horn could now be redesigned. Stewart Tyler decided to make a very shallow midrange horn from billet aluminium. The midrange horn being very shallow gives excellent dispersion this widens the sound stage and reveals details right down to the finest brushed cymbal.

The ProAc ribbon tweeter is also used as it is in most of ProAc’s high end speakers. The tweeters are wonderfully natural and fine detail is produced even at high levels with comfort.

The 8 inch Kevlar bass drivers are made in house these bass drivers are ported through a curved tude in the base of the loudspeaker.

On extensive listening tests it was noticed that the K8 had a wonderfully wide sound stage and image, mainly down to our new shallow horn. Also new was the crossover and a new board was designed with heavy tracking and only audio file components along with studio quality inductors.

The K8 is designed for those wishing to have a speaker from the top of the tree in terms of sound and build quality, this new design has produced a very large sound stage and along with clean and extended bass response and finished with our ribbon tweeter, I’m sure you will agree that their sounds are perfectly natural.

ProAc K6
$22000.

ProAc is proud to announce the launch of the K6 loudspeaker.

Following the successful incorporation of carbon fibre cone technology in the Carbon Pro Series, ProAc have been researching other materials for possible inclusion in their high end loudspeakers. The results of this research have come to fruition in the shape of the new K series which utilises cones manufactured from the material, Kevlar. Kevlar benefits from having similar properties to carbon fibre, being light and at the same time rigid. The ProAc 6 1/2″ drivers utilised in the K6 feature Kevlar cones made by the same special method as our carbon fibre coned drive units; the cone is painstakingly produced from a mould by hand, a labour intensive process taking many hours to complete.

Although Kevlar has proven to be an excellent cone material sonically, the Kevlar ProAc bass drivers require a different porting mechanism in order to realise their full potential. The bass is loaded by an almost invisible vent to produce a wonderfully weighty but exceptionally fast bass response. These drivers are seamlessly crossed over to a 2″ dome midrange, the horn of which is manufactured from billet aluminium and for the high frequencies, ProAc’s proven ribbon tweeter has been chosen. The cabinet on the K6 is a traditional mixture from ProAc of HDF materials of different thicknesses heavily damped with bitumen. Indeed the carcass including bitumen is 35mm thick. The combination of research into carbon fibre and its ingredients have produced a stunningly accurate and detailed loudspeaker, having an electrostatic or panel quality without the drawbacks. Sound is reproduced effortlessly with incredible detail and pinpoint imagery, which often can be muddled by conventional drive units.

The K6 is designed for audiophiles and music lovers who are looking for a true high end loudspeaker offering smooth reproduction and an impressively flat response throughout the frequency range. The legendary ProAc qualities of large soundstaging and pin-sharp imaging capabilities complete a highly musical and engaging transducer.

ProAc Response D48R
$10900.

After a year in research and development the D48 is now ready for production.

Areas of improvement have been mid-range detail and a cleaner, faster and more extended bass response. A new studio monitor quality bass driver was designed for the D48. It features a special impregnated cone and mid frequencies are tuned by a cap of greater size than standard. This gives the new unit greater mid-range detail along with excellent bass control giving a tighter and more extended response. The two new bass drivers are each loaded through our special floor loading with side vents, this makes the loudspeaker easier to sight and reacts less to surroundings. The two bass units are then seamlessly mated to our ribbon or dome tweeter depending on your preference. With such a large slim floor standing design the sound stage is superb being very large and with pinpoint imagery. Another achievement for the D48 is its ability to create large orchestral works as well as heavy rock music.

The D48 has a high quality filter network designed by Stewart Tyler comprising of the finest components, ProAc cable on a special board. The filter is also split for bi-amping and bi-wiring. This is one of the best designs from ProAc and should please all audio files regardless of their taste in music.

Dynaudio Evidence Platinum
$49200.

Before we start, we just want to say this: Evidence isn’t a ‘luxury’ speaker. It doesn’t have gold-plated screws or endangered wood inlays, and it doesn’t make boastful (and meaningless) claims about the ethereal nature of sound.

It’s simply the best way to hear your music.

Evidence Platinum encompasses all the values and ambitions we had when we started Dynaudio in 1977 – to reproduce music without colouration, effects or distortion, so you can hear it unvarnished: the way it was meant to be heard.

Each speaker is handcrafted to near-impossible standards in our factory in Denmark – overseen by experts in furniture polishing, acoustics, materials science (the people who handle the proprietary Magnesium Silicate Polymer material we use for our drivers and the precision-coating we put on our soft-dome tweeters), woodworking, CNC machining and more. And it doesn’t leave us until it’s perfect.

Dynaudio Evidence Master
$69000.

The Evidence Master is comprised of three individual interlocking sections. The technically identical upper and lower cabinet sections house the bass drive units, while the middle section contains the midrange and treble drive units as well as the crossover, the latter being further isolated within its own individual sub-compartment. This construction offers a tremendous performance advantage, as each section can be optimized for the differing requirements of precise bass, midrange and high frequency reproduction.

The middle section features a massive CNC-machined solid aluminum baffle which houses two special Dynaudio MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) cone midrange drivers and two perfectly matched and meticulously selected Dynaudio coated soft-dome tweeters.

The elegant design of the aluminum baffle is a direct result of geometric optimization for absolutely perfect sound dispersion. The mechanical properties of aluminum, in conjunction with the mass of the middle section guarantee perfect resonance control – reproduction of high frequencies remains completely uncolored so even the finest musical details are precisely resolved.

Dali Epicon 6
$13995.

The EPICON 6 is no less that DALI’s new reference loudspeaker. Standing on the shoulders of virtues from the acclaimed EUPHONIA series, EPICON takes you one step closer to “the real thing”.

The backbone of EPICON 6 is DALI’s new peerless driver technology. Featuring two 6 ½“ bass woofers, the unique Linear Drive Magnet as well as the breakthrough ribbon/soft dome hybrid tweeter unit the sound breaks with traditional loudspeaker conventions.

The EPICON 6 relies on a 2½-way system as – compared to the EPICON 2 – it features an additional woofer kicking in below 600Hz. However, for the highest frequencies the EPICON 6 also incorporates a ribbon tweeter as part of the hybrid tweeter, in reality turning the speaker into a ‘2½ + ½-way’ construction.

Dali Epicon 2
$7990.

The two channel speaker features a 6 ½“ bass driver and a soft cone dome tweeter. In fact, the technological breakthroughs designed for the larger EPICON 6 and EPICON 8 models have been channelled into EPICON 2 to create a speaker that performs way beyond its size expectations.

Canalis Allegra 2.0
$17500.

The Allegra 2.0 is our flagship speaker. Designed around the Anima, it is our inspiration for the CS products. To reach our performance goals for this speaker Joachim Gerhard chose to separate the midrange/tweeter cabinet from the bass cabinet, which allowed him to extend the design goal. Separating the cabinets also gave Allen Perkins at Canalis opportunities for mechanical noise reduction and resonance control. Optimization and isolation of the bass and midrange have a lot to do with the Allegra 2.0’s effortless performance.

In the midrange/tweeter cabinet, the Allegra 2.0 shares the same driver compliment as the Anima models. Unlike the Anima, the Allegra 2.0 midrange driver is not called upon to reproduce low frequencies. The cabinet shape and internal volume are calculated to get the best performance with a sealed, rather than a ported, box. When testing the Allegra 2.0 it became obvious that the combination of separated bamboo cabinets and Allen’s mechanical treatments resulted in a significantly quieter mechanical structure. In fact the Allegro 2.0 surpasses the dynamics and resolution of even the Anima CS, while the bass cabinet delivers a fast and articulate bass response.

The Allegra 2.0 midrange/tweeter cabinet is mass loaded with a hard coupled ¾” stainless steel plate that forms the base of the cabinet. A mechanical decoupling system attaches this high mass assembly atop the bass cabinet. The decoupled mass approach significantly reduces the transfer of bass energy which would otherwise interfere with the midrange/tweeter response. The midrange/tweeter crossover board is securely mounted to the stainless steel base, floating on decoupling material inside the bass cabinet. This arrangement provides an extremely quiet and vibration-free environment for the crossover and significantly aids in lowering the noise floor of the loudspeaker. For the Allegra 2.0 we also upped the parts caliber (and cost) by using only the finest capacitors and custom-designed low-frequency inductors, courtesy of audio engineer Brian Daley.

Canalis Amerigo 2.0
$10000.

The elegantly proportioned, three-way floorstanding Amerigo introduces design innovations that are unique to this loudspeaker, including the aptly-named Air Drive bass-loading enclosure for extended low-frequency response and improved efficiency.

Amerigo offers true full-range, extremely high-quality sound in rooms where space or other considerations require the use of a speaker with a smaller footprint—while achieving bass definition, integration with the midrange, and treble and tonal accuracy, for natural, evenly-balanced yet articulate sound.

The Air Drive construction employs three separate internal chambers that spread the internal resonance over a variety of frequencies, while controlling the impedance curve that the speaker presents to the amplifier.

A conventional ported speaker typically has one resonance point, creating a large impedance dip. This affects not only the load presented to the amplifier, but causes a frequency response peak at the resonant frequency, which can adversely affect tonal neutrality.

The Amerigo’s three internal chambers create three flatter impedance dips, presenting easier-to-drive loads to the amplifier, thus evening out the frequency response. One of the impedance peaks dips at the low bass frequencies, so more amplifier current and better low-frequency drive is available in the deep bass.

This new type of tuning tightly controls the excursion of the woofers, which move less than in conventional designs. What the listener actually hears is not the woofer cones moving, but the air mass of the loading, hence the name Air Drive. To further refine its performance, the Amerigo’s crossover network includes a proprietary DC circuit that compensates for baffle diffraction and baffle step effects. The Amerigo delivers a surprising amount of bass from a modestly proportioned enclosure with an articulate midrange, exceptionally detailed highs, and a smooth, natural tonal balance with extraordinary clarity.

Canalis Cambria
$5500.

The Cambria is the latest design to come from Joachim Gerhard, and it challenges a few rules in loudspeaker design. Not that we’re trying to be tricky. It’s just that when advancements in technology happen, they can open doors that were previously thought to be closed.

Canalis Anima CS
$6000.

The Anima CS takes the Anima two-way monitor’s superlative performance up another level. The improvements? An overall reduction in the noise level of the speaker, higher resolution, and improved dynamics. And what did we do to get these improvements? First of all, the two loudspeakers incorporate the same drivers, bamboo cabinet, crossover topology, premium internal wiring and Eichmann connectors. These highly refined components are the basis for the already excellent performing standard version.

But, the CS version incorporates a number of special noise-reduction treatments (i.e.: Balanced Force Design) and custom parts. The first is a ¾ inch stainless steel base. The significant mass of the stainless steel base, added to the rigid bamboo cabinet, provides a nearly immovable baffle for the speaker drivers. It is also a low vibration platform where the Anima CS crossover is mounted using a floating and decoupled suspension system.

Dali Rubicon 6
$5995.

The cone used in the RUBICON series draws upon the heritage from the EPICON technologies, and has a light, rigid and randomly uneven structure. This lower the complexity of the central part of the motor, ensures even piston like movements, reduces the possibility of surface resonance greatly and creates an extremely low distortion within the RUBICON series. The soft low-loss rubber surround is designed and bespoke specifically for the RUBICON series, and all of the components are situated in an aluminum chassis designed for maximum airflow around the cone and magnet system.

Dali Rubicon 8
$7995.

Assembled in-house, every driver in each of the RUBCION models are configured to match the model they are destined for. The three 6½ inch drivers used in RUBICON 8 all work together to reproduce a clean, detailed sound with no colouration. The RUBICON series draws upon the heritage from the SMC based ‘Linear Drive System, which was introduced with the EPICON series. With the use of the technology from the SMC drivers, we have taken a step closer to remove a very large part of the unwanted distortion. The bass drivers are optimized for long excursion, and the midrange driver for a large useful frequency range insuring that the roll-off is handled in the crossover and not in the driver. All this ensures that the benefit from SMC can be enjoyed by even more Hi-Fi lovers around the world.

Canalis Anima
$3250.

The Anima is our most popular loudspeaker. This two-way, compact monitor-style speaker has been an audiophile standard for decades, thanks to its ability to present music in a coherent fashion, tonally and spatially.

Designing a two-way loudspeaker is a two-edged sword: it can be a platform for a designer to show his or her mettle or a harshly revealing sonic microscope. Its relative simplicity (compared to multi-driver designs and their more complex crossovers and driver interactions) leaves no room to hide any sonic flaws.
